Do you know the Entre-deux-Mers? This magnificent region is extended in the largest metropolitan department that is the Gironde!

Nope? So this is an opportunity for us, Un Village en Gironde, to tell you a few words about this pretty area that is increasingly popular with tourists.

But where is the sea???!!

But where is the sea??? Will say foreigners or at least those who are not Girondins…. Well you can search as long as you can, there is no sea on this side of the Gironde.

So why calling this region Entre-deux-Mers?

Quite simply because this territory is located between the Garonne and the Dordogne, two rivers subject to the tidal regime. Here is the explanation!

And if there is no sea to see, it is very easy to find something to do in this magnificent region where life is good, made of woods, valleys, vineyards, forming these shades of green that have earned it the nickname of "Little Tuscany".

Take the old railway line that has become the magnificent Roger Lapébie cycle path from Bordeaux to Sauveterre de Guyenne. Along the way, the landscape changes between villages and nature. The route of the Ways of Santiago de Compostela blends with this landscape of the Bordeaux hinterland.

An exceptional heritage!!!

The fortresses, the abbeys, the old churches, the old washhouses, the mills, the tombs in the middle of the vines, the old freestone quarries which have created tens of kilometers of galleries snaking under the vineyards... this is what Un Village en Gironde tells you.

Many audio guides on the villages of Entre-deux-Mers are waiting for you, so choose the village you want to visit. Go in the village with your own smartphone and earphones. For 1 hour minimum, let yourself be quietly guided through the heart of the village by a voice that tells you the history and anecdotes collected from the elders.

You are free to stroll around at your own pace, taking advantage of breaks: on the terrace of a bar, having lunch at the restaurant, enjoying the various shops, small artisan shops and then resuming the course of the visit at your own pace. You will be charmed by Castelmoron-d'Albret, Langoiran and Le Tourne, Cadillac and many more...

Lovers of varied landscapes, of the great outdoors, you will be delighted. We leave Entre-deux-Mers as if reinvigorated by this bit of countryside, peaceful and relaxing. To you Girondins, we really advise you to take a tour and to you tourists, whatever the place where you stay if you are on holiday in Bordeaux or elsewhere in Gironde, come and discover this magnificent corner.

Slow-tourism in Entre-deux-Mers, you will simply ADORE.
